2. What is the cost and what does it cover?

LIFE 2010 will cost $395 per person. (Does not include housing and travel cost.)

3. Who can attend LIFE?

LIFE 2010 is intended for high school students, therefore the age limitation is between 13 years old (or entering 9th grade) and 19 years old (or recent high school graduates).

6. What does a typical day look like?

LIFE runs from Tuesday-Saturday. You can download the proposed daily schedule if you want a bit more detail, but generally, a day at LIFE looks like this:

7. How can I receive promotional materials?

Promotional materials will be sent to all C&MA churches starting in June 2009. More materials will be sent to churches leading up to LIFE 2010.

8. How do I register my group for LIFE 2010?

Online registration opens October 1, 2009.

• Deposit of $118.50 per person is due when you register.
• Final payment is due when registration closes on
  June 15, 2010.
• After October 1, 2009 if you have any questions please call the registration office at 877-284-3262 option 5 or send an email.

9. Is the deposit refundable?

No, you will not be able to receive a refund if you do not attend LIFE 2010. However, the group leader may transfer the deposit from one student to another within their group.

11. Are scholarships available for LIFE 2010?

No, there are no scholarships available for LIFE 2010. The best thing to do is talk with your local church to see if they might offer scholarship opportunities.

12. Can I work at the conference?

Yes. Here are some more details:

How old? Workers must be at least 19 years old.

How much? Workers must work six hours per day.

What can I do? Workers are assigned various jobs by the coordinator from crowd control to guides to big toy operators, etc.

Who is a worker/intern? A worker is an adult who wants to support the ministry of the LIFE 2010. They pay their own food, room and travel. Food is $250 per person. An intern is a college student interested in full time ministry. They pay their own room and travel costs. They are expected to work 8-10 hours per day.

13. What are the details on housing?

Once you register your group, you will receive confirmation with a housing link and you will then be able to make your hotel reservations. The hotels range from $90 to $124 per room, per night. If you put four people in the room and you occupy the room five nights (Tuesday night to Saturday night), the estimated housing cost is $111 to $150 per person.

Can we find our own housing? No, our desire is to have everyone onsite for the conference. If you book your own accomodations, there is a penalty fee, plus you will need to provide transportation to your hotel and parking at the convention center. There are more benefits to staying onsite.

16. Is there shuttle service from the hotel to the Expo Center and the airport?

Hotel Shuttle

Since several of our hotels that make up our room block are not in walking distance of the EXPO Center a shuttle service to those hotels has been established by the LIFE 2010 Executive Team.

During the main rush hours (6:30am – 9:30 am and 9:30 pm – 11:30 pm) there will be continuous service to and from the following hotels to the Expo Center.

During the hours of 9:30am – 9:30pm buses will run between the hotels and Expo Center on hour loops.

Airport Shuttle

A shuttle service from the airport to all hotels will be available for a small fee.

19. Are donations tax deductible?

Yes. The individual donor should make the contribution to the attendee’s church to receive a tax-deductible receipt issued by the church. The National Office does not issue receipts to individuals attending LIFE 2010.

The National Office has taken the position for a number of LIFE’s that LIFE is an approved ministry event of The Alliance. As such, donations to cover the cost for students, sponsors, workers, and interns to attend are tax-deductible. Churches can either have one central fund in which they collect funds for LIFE, and allocate them out to attendees based on the amount that is received, OR, they may set up separate accounts for each attendee so that the attendee knows how much he/she will need to cover personally (on a tax-deductible basis) that has not been raised by contributions. So contributions may be designated for a particular attendee for LIFE, and be tax-deductible to the donor, even if that donor is a parent of a student, or an attendee themselves. The only caveat is that the church must exercise control over these funds to insure that they are used for exempt ministry purposes. These exempt ministry purposes would include the LIFE registration fee, as well as travel costs for the attendee (transportation to LIFE, meals while traveling to and from LIFE (meals at LIFE this year are included in the registration fee), and lodging. They do NOT include any personal expenses the attendee may incur, including any recreational or other personal expenses.
